Interventional radiology

An Interventional Radiologist (IR) is a specialist doctor that is highly trained to perform minimally invasive, image guided procedures to diagnose and treat a wide variety of medical conditions.
IR procedures are often associated with reduced recovery times, reduced pain and faster return to activity in comparison with traditional open surgical techniques. In many cases, procedures are performed under local anaesthesia or light sedation with same day discharge.
Interventional Radiologists are also trained in the clinical management of patients and can act as either a primary specialist caring for a patient or as part of a multidisciplinary team.

We work as part of multidisciplinary teams, working in close collaboration with some of the leading medical and surgical specialists in Australia
